I had been wanting to see Margaret Salisbury talk about her images for some time. Having seen some of her Ghana and Venice images before I thought it would be great to be at one her talks at a photographic club. So when she told me she was touring some clubs in my area I jumped at the chance to see more of her work.

I live in Milton Keynes and ‘my area’ turned out to be 72 miles away at Harlow Photographic Society! On the 26th November I travelled, with my parents (who are also keen photographers), the 72 miles to Harlow. We arrived quite early and got a good seats.

Margaret’s talk was fantastic. She talked a little about her early Welsh landscape monochrome images (of which I would like to see more) and then her Venice work before finishing up with her stunning Ghana images. Margaret is a charactor and all the while she held the audience captivated with her stories, her humour, and her amazing insight into the ’seeing’ of images. Margaret takes wonderful, emotional, visually artistic images. She has been awarded many high level distinctions and her images are accepted in well known exhibitions and have been accepted in permanent collections. I highly recommend, if you get the chance, that you at least go and see her work but best of all go and see her talk at a photographic society near you (or even not so near), you wont be dissapointed.

I’d just like to finish of by expressing my thanks to Harlow Photographic Society for their warm welcome at one of their regular evenings, we really were made very welcome, many thanks.

There have been lots of rumours and speculation about when, or if, Canon will announce a replacement for it’s EOS 5D DSLR for some time now. I have a particular interest as I use a 5D and eagerly await a similar sized and priced camera body with a load more megapixels. Well PMA 08 has come and gone and whilst there were announcements of new and exciting equipment, from many manufacturers, there was no 5D MKII (or whatever it might be called) replacement. This is both a bad and good thing … bad because I would like more megapixels and good because now I don’t have to justify buying one! :-)
